At Hepworth Baptist Church, God’s word (the Bible) is our guide to life and how we function as a church family.
We believe the Bible guides us into the following...
That is our purpose.
We believe that Authentic Faith in Jesus is what leads to the best life both for today, and for eternity. It’s this mission to both share the good news about what Jesus has done for us, and to lead people to an Authentic Faith in Jesus that makes us who we are!
Below you will find a brief description of our beliefs. For more explanation, a more complete version of these beliefs can be found by contacting our main office, or any elder. Please reach out with any questions!
We believe the Bible, the 66 books as originally written, is the complete Word of God. It holds the final authority on all matters of faith and practise. The Bible is essential in our lives and in our gatherings and through it we discover God’s message of Hope and Salvation, are called to respond, and so much more!
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in all His perfection, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of all three persons.
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was eternally existent, yet born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitute for mankind’s sins, was resurrected, ascended into heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.
We believe in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Mankind voluntarily turned from God at the beginning and since the first man, all mankind is lost apart from Jesus. Only through trusting in the person and work of Jesus can salvation be found.
We believe that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for man’s sins, was the perfect sacrifice, once, and for all sin and that those who respond in faith are united with Christ and permanently sealed by the Holy Spirit. You cannot ‘lose’ salvation.
We believe the church is made up of all people, everywhere, who trust in Jesus alone for salvation.
The local church is a gathering of these believers for the purpose of spreading the gospel, the edification of its members and more.
Jesus is the head of the church.
